Organ concert by Timothy Parsons


Sunday 24 May 2026 at 4:00 PM at Cradley church
The next organ concert at Cradley church will be given by Timothy Parsons on Sunday 24 May, at the slightly later than usual time of 4pm. The concert will last about an hour, and will be followed by tea and cake, included in the entry price of £12. Under 18s go free!

Timothy's last concert, three years ago, was greatly enjoyed, and the events committee are looking forward to welcoming him to Cradley again. He will present a varied programme, including Bach's Prelude and Fugue in C, Mendelssohn's Sonata in A, Elgar's Imperial March, and the contemporary composer Ghislaine Reece-Trapp's Fantasia on 'Sumer is icumen in'.

Timothy is currently Director of Music at Wells Cathedral, and has held musical appointments at St. Edmundsbury, Exeter, Winchester, and Hereford cathedrals, and at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He broadcasts regularly on Radio Three, and has featured on CDs as an organist, conductor, and composer.

The concert will help to raise funds for a minor restoration of the superb John Nicholson organ at Cradley church.

Talk: Prayer Book in Practice

Dr Stefan Scot, musician and lay clerk in Ely, Hereford & Worcester cathedrals, talking about "Prayer Book in Practice" Part II on the assorted sources a priest might have used in 1549 to work out how he would have actually conducted the new communion service, no music but some entertaining anecdotes, at 7.30pm at Storridge Village Hall, free admission, donations to Storridge Church, refreshments. Part of Storridge Literary and Music Festival 2026.
